Mogi das Cruzes outlasted visiting Basket Cearense to secure the winning start to their playoff campaign. SKY/Basquete was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 25 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Gerson Santo (206-91, college: Colorado St.) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Mogi's coach Danilo Padovani used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international forward Marcus Vinicius Toledo (201-86) responded with 13 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Eduardo Machado (193-82) scored 14 points and 5 assists.
