Regular Season Round 6: Sandringham S. - Frankston 91-69

There was a minor upset in Cheltenham where 5th ranked Frankston Blues (1-3) were outplayed by eighth ranked Sabres (2-3) 91-69 on Sunday. Sabres outrebounded Frankston Blues 38-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was forward Aquill Baynard (203, college: Philander Smith) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Ari Stewart (200-90, college: USC) chipped in 28 points and 8 rebounds. Four Sabres players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized American swingman Bennie Lewis (203-87, college: Benedict, agency: Warren Sports International) who recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Thomas Wilson (191-97) added 9 points and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sabres moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Frankston Blues dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. Sabres will face Tigers (#7) in Melbourne in the next round. Frankston Blues will play at home against Dandenong Rangers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
