Second Stage Round 10: FC Porto - Barcelos 64-58
Date: April 17, 2016
Very expected game when 6th ranked Barcelos (4-16) were defeated on the road by second ranked FC Porto Ferpinta (14-6) 64-58. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. It looked good early as Barcelos took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then FC Porto Ferpinta took control winning two of next three quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 6 points. FC Porto Ferpinta outrebounded Barcelos 38-27 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American center Nick Washburn (208-91, college: Hillsdale, agency: Duran International) who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 8 rebounds. Point guard Andre Bessa (179-89) contributed with 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Worth to mention Washburn played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. FC Porto Ferpinta's coach Moncho Lopez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Serbian swingman Igor Djukovic (202-87, agency: Dynamics Global Management) replied with 10 points and 8 rebounds and forward Joao Grosso (196-94) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Barcelos. Newly promoted FC Porto Ferpinta maintains second position with 14-6 record behind leader Vitoria SC. Barcelos lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 16 games lost.
