The game with biggest result difference took place in San German. Local Atleticos (11-16) lost to eighth ranked Brujos (13-14) 108-90 on Wednesday night. The game was mostly controlled by Brujos. Atleticos was better in third quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 35-of-43 free shots (81.4 percent) during the game. Brujos forced 19 Atleticos turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Brujos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Atleticos were plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds. Naturalized American guard Darnell Hinson (185-80, college: Northeastern St.) chipped in 24 points and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) who recorded a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and forward Benito Santiago (198, college: Cumberlands) added 16 points respectively. Five Brujos and four Atleticos players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brujos moved-up to seventh place. Loser Atleticos keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Brujos will have a break next round. Atleticos will play on the road against Indios (#11) in Mayaguez and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
