Regular Season Round 32: Istanbul DSI - Meliksah 84-82

Date: April 22, 2016
A very close game took place in Istanbul (derby !!!) between Istanbul DSI and Meliksah. Seventeenth ranked Istanbul DSI (9-23) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Meliksah (13-19). Istanbul DSI managed to escape with a 2-point win 84-82 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. Meliksah cut a 17-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. Istanbul DSI had a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. The winners were led by guard Omer Sancakli (195-92, agency: 1x1 Sports) who scored that evening 28 points and American forward Mikael Hopkins (206, college: Georgetown) supported him with 15 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 23 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals by American guard Jeremy Ingram (190-92, college: N.C.Central) did not help to save the game for Meliksah. His fellow American import Curtis Kelly (205-88, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) added 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the guests. Five Meliksah players scored in double figures. Meliksah's coach Halil Atli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Istanbul DSI maintains seventeenth position with 9-23 record. Meliksah at the other side keeps the eleventh place with 19 games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Istanbul DSI will meet higher ranked Akhisar Bld (#13) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Meliksah will play against Pertevniyal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
