Regular Season Round 33: Maurienne - Challans 72-71

Thirteenth-ranked Vendee Challans (15-18) was very close to win a game against sixth ranked Aix-Maurienne (19-14) in Aix-les-Bains. Aix-Maurienne managed to secure only one-point victory 72-71. However their fans expected much easier game. Vendee Challans was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 24-17 third quarter run of Aix-Maurienne. Gambian forward Moses Sonko (197-83, college: Co.Carolina, agency: HMS) stepped up and scored 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and naturalized Algerian Karim Atamna (196-80) chipped in 13 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Aix-Maurienne players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was naturalized Mali point guard Ibrahim Saounera (180-87) with 13 points and American forward Anthony Hill (204-88, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Aix-Maurienne moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Lourdes. Vendee Challans at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. They share it with Bordeaux. Aix-Maurienne will play against SAP Vaucluse (#11) in Sorgues in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vendee Challans will play at home against the league's leader ADA Blois and hopes to get back on the winning track.
