Regular Season Round 29: Santurce - Manati 91-94 OT

Date: April 23, 2016
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Cangrejeros (16-12) in Santurce on Saturday night. Hosts were edged by eighth ranked Manati (14-14) in overtime 94-91. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime then Cangrejeros managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Manati who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 11-8. Strangely Cangrejeros outrebounded Manati 49-26 including a 16-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Joseph Soto (190-93) stepped up and scored 23 points and 4 assists for the winners and American forward Landon Milbourne (201-87, college: Maryland) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas, agency: Priority Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and the former international Javier Mojica (190-84, college: Cent.Conn.St., agency: Paris Global Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Manati and five Cangrejeros players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Manati moved-up to seventh place. Cangrejeros at the other side still keep top position with 12 games lost. Manati will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Cangrejeros will play on the road against Atleticos in San German and are hoping to win this game.
