Regular Season Round 30: Quebradillas - Bayamon 90-99

The biggest surprise of round 30 was guest Vaqueros' (16-14) road victory over Piratas (#6) 99-90 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Piratas. Piratas trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 27-22 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 90-99 at the end of the game. Vaqueros made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Miguel Ali Berdiel (198-83, college: Valparaiso) who had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 8 rebounds and 13 assists. Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: Beo Basket) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Italian guard Kevin Lisch (188-86, college: St.Louis) who recorded 20 points and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) added 18 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) respectively. Five Vaqueros and four Piratas players scored in double figures. Vaqueros moved-up to second place, which they share with Humacao. Piratas at the other side keep the sixth position with 15 games lost. Vaqueros is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Indios (#11) in Mayaguez in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Piratas will play at home against Brujos (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
