Hispano Americano escaped with a narrow road win over Alianza Viedma in the quarterfinal series opener. Alianza Viedma cut a 14-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. Strangely Alianza Viedma outrebounded Hispano Am. 32-17 including 22 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Hispano Am. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. Guard Sebastian Mignani (181-90) fired 27 points for the winners. American forward Terry Martin Jr. (199-89, college: Wofford) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Scott Cutley (196-85, college: CS Fullerton) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Pedro Franco (187-81) added 21 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
