Regular Season Round 32: Humacao - Guayama 64-68

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Caciques (17-15) against fifth ranked Brujos (16-15) on Friday night. Host Caciques were defeated by Brujos in a tough game in Humacao 64-68. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Caciques won third quarter 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Brujos won last quarter 18-15. The winners were led by American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized American guard Darnell Hinson (185-80, college: Northeastern St.) supported him with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Even 19 points and 5 rebounds by American forward Brandon Costner (206-87, college: N.Carolina St.) did not help to save the game for Caciques. The former international swingman Edwin Ubiles (198-86, college: Siena) added 11 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Caciques' coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Brujos maintains fifth position with 16-15 record, which they share with Aguada. Caciques at the other side dropped to the third place with 15 games lost. Brujos will play against Atleticos (#10) in San German in the next round where they are favorite. Caciques will play at home against Manati (#9) and hope to get back on the winning track.
