1/8 Finals Round 1: Akita NH - Fukushima 87-79

Akita Northern Happinets held off Fukushima to start the playoff campaign. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 30-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American swingman Richard Roby (198-85, agency: CGL Sports) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Akita Happinets' coach Makoto Hasegawa used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American swingman Le'Bryan Nash (201-92, college: Oklahoma St.) responded with 37 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the other American import forward Stephan Van Treese (206-90, college: Louisville, agency: Inception Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 14 rebounds. Four Fukushima players scored in double figures.
