Very predictable result in Bayamon where second ranked Vaqueros (18-14) defeated 9th ranked Manati (14-17) 100-87 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Vaqueros. Manati managed to win fourth quarter 28-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. Vaqueros outrebounded Manati 41-25 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Miguel Ali Berdiel (198-83, college: Valparaiso) who had a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Nigerian center Jeleel Akindele (216-83, college: Chicago St., agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 21 points and 9 rebounds. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. American forward Landon Milbourne (201-87, college: Maryland) produced 27 points and 6 rebounds and Dominican point guard Adris De Leon (180-84, college: E.Washington) added 13 points and 6 assists respectively for the guests. Vaqueros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 18-14 record behind leader Santurce. Manati lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with 17 games lost. Vaqueros will meet Leones (#4) in the next round. Manati will play against Caciques (#3) in Humacao and hope to secure a win.
