Akita Northern Happinets topped Fukushina to enter the quarterfinal stage. Fukushima was ahead by 6 points after three quarters before a 29-12 charge of Akita Happinets, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Fukushima's 34. They outrebounded Fukushima 39-23 including 28 on the defensive glass. American swingman Richard Roby (198-85, agency: CGL Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and international guard Shigehiro Taguchi (184-90) supported him with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Even 19 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Stephan Van Treese (206-90, college: Louisville, agency: Inception Sports) did not help to save the game for Fukushima. His fellow American import swingman Le'Bryan Nash (201-92, college: Oklahoma St.) added 13 points and 5 assists for the guests. Five Akita Happinets and four Fukushima players scored in double figures.
