No shocking result in a game in Guayama where fifth ranked Brujos (17-15) defeated 10th ranked Atleticos (14-19) 96-82. The game was mostly controlled by Brujos. Atleticos was better in third quarter 25-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Brujos shot 61.1 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three nailing 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Brujos players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) nailed 16 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import swingman Brandon Thomas (198-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: Three Eye Sports) accounted for 16 points and 7 assists. Brujos' coach Carlos Gonzalez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Benito Santiago (198, college: Cumberlands) came up with 21 points and Panamanian forward Tony Bishop (201-89, college: Texas St., agency: Inception Sports) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Atleticos in the defeat. Five Brujos and four Atleticos players scored in double figures. The victory was the third consecutive win for Brujos. They maintain fifth place with 17-15 record. Atleticos at the other side keep the tenth position with 19 games lost. Brujos' next round opponent will be Manati (#9) on the road. Atleticos will play against Leones and hope to win that game.
