Quarter-Finals Round 5: Homenetmen - Hoops 71-68

Homenetmen held off Hoops in the decider and punched their semifinal tickets. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Hoops Club won third quarter 20-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Homenetmen won last quarter 14-12. Homenetmen outrebounded Hoops Club 46-34 including a 19-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Hoops Club helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Norvel Pelle (208-93, college: Iona) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds for the winners and the former international swingman Nadim Souaid (192-86) chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. American forward Tyrone Nelson (206-85, college: N.Mexico St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import forward Dwayne Davis (196-89, college: S.Mississippi) scored 21 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
