Important game to mention about took place in Juana Diaz. Sixth ranked Leones (18-16) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-best Vaqueros (18-15) 93-90 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Vaqueros. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Vaqueros won third quarter 23-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Leones made 16-of-21 charity shots (76.2 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: Octagon Europe) contributed with 28 points for the winners. The former international guard Miguel Ali Berdiel (198-83, college: Valparaiso) answered with 21 points and 6 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Dominican swingman Francisco Garcia (201-81, college: Louisville) added 21 points in the effort for Vaqueros. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Leones have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place. Vaqueros at the other side keep the second position with 15 games lost. They share it with Aguada. Leones will play against Atleticos (#10) in San German in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Vaqueros will play on the road against Capitanes (#7) in Arecibo and hope to get back on the winning track.
