Quarter-Finals Round 2: Valka/Valga - VEF Riga 83-102

VEF Riga cruised past Valka/Valga on the road to gain 2-0 lead in the quarterfinal series. It looked good early as Valka/Valga took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then VEF Riga had a 28-17 second period charge getting the lead and Valka/Valga was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 83-102. VEF Riga shot 61.7 percent from the field. VEF Riga had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 72.2 percentage. VEF Riga players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) notched 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and the former international Janis Berzins (201-93) supported him with 16 points and 5 assists. VEF Riga's coach Janis Gailitis used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 18 points by forward Martins Berkis (198-85) did not help to save the game for Valka/Valga. The former international center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-85) added 9 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.
