Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Leones (18-17) and Atleticos (15-19), which took place in San German. Higher ranked Leones lost to tenth ranked Atleticos in a road game 68-86. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Leones. The game without a history. Atleticos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They outrebounded Leones 38-27 including 24 on the defensive glass. Atleticos players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Cuban center Ismael Romero (203-91, agency: Paris Global Sports) chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side international point guard Carlos Rivera (187-83, college: Hofstra) responded with 14 points and 8 assists and American power forward Denzel Bowles (208-89, college: JMU) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Four Leones players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Atleticos maintains tenth position with 15-19 record. Defending champion Leones keep the fifth place with 17 games lost. Atleticos will play against higher ranked Piratas (#7) in Quebradillas in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Leones will have a break next round.
