Regular Season Round 35: Aguada - Arecibo 86-92

Santeros (#4) were upset in Coamo by eighth ranked Capitanes 92-86. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Santeros. Santeros were ahead by 12 points after three quarters before a 31-13 charge of Capitanes, which allowed them to win the game. Santeros were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Coty Clarke (201-92, college: Arkansas) who led the winners and scored 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) accounted for 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. Capitanes' coach Rafael Cruz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Dominican guard Rigoberto Mendoza (190-92) came up with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and American forward Chane Behanan (198-92, college: Louisville) added 13 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Santeros in the defeat. Capitanes (17-16) moved-up to sixth place. Santeros at the other side dropped to the third position with 16 games lost. They share it with Guayama. Capitanes will play against league's leader Cangrejeros in Santurce in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santeros will play at home against Indios and hope to get back on the winning track.
