The game between third ranked Brujos (18-16) and eleventh ranked Indios (12-21) was the most important one in the last round on Thursday night. Brujos were edged by Indios in a tough game in Guayama 89-91. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Brujos. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Brujos won third quarter 27-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Indios made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Indios outrebounded Brujos 40-27 including a 31-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Gabriel Belardo (188-89, college: FIU) helped adding 25 points. Swingman Brandon Thomas (198-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: Three Eye Sports) responded with 28 points and forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) scored 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Five Indios and four Brujos players scored in double figures. Indios maintains eleventh place with 12-21 record. Brujos at the other side keep the third position with 16 games lost. They share it with Aguada. Indios are looking forward to face higher ranked Santeros (#4) in Coamo in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Brujos will play on the road against Caciques in Humacao and are hoping to win this game.
