Regular Season Round 36: Santurce - Manati 76-75

Ninth-ranked Manati (15-20) made lots of trouble for first ranked Cangrejeros (21-15) in Santurce. Cangrejeros managed to secure only one-point victory 76-75. However their fans expected much easier game. Manati was ahead by 6 points at the halftime before a 44-37 second half run of Cangrejeros. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas, agency: Priority Sports) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Belizean-American power forward Leon Williams (203-86, college: Ohio) contributed with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Cangrejeros' coach Julio Toro allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Irish-Australian center Andrew James Ogilvy (211-88, college: Vanderbilt) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 blocks and the former international swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Manati. Four Manati players scored in double figures. Cangrejeros maintains first position with 21-15 record. Manati lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth place with 20 games lost. Cangrejeros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Manati will play at home against Caciques (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
