Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Azuqueca (16-10) won against at home 9th ranked La Roda (10-16) 67-63 on Sunday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Strangely La Roda outrebounded Azuqueca 55-32 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Faronte Drakeford (201-92, college: Cent.Conn.St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Point guard Carlos Calvo (178-94) contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Four Azuqueca players scored in double figures. American guard Stephon Carter (193-91, college: CSU Bakersfield) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and Senegalese power forward Michel Diouf (208-90) added 20 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for La Roda. Azuqueca moved-up to fourth place in Group B, which they share with Tenerife Naut. and Real Madrid II. Newly promoted La Roda keeps the ninth position with 16 games lost.
