Regular Season Round 36: Arecibo - Santurce 81-75

Top ranked Cangrejeros (21-15) recorded its fifteenth loss in Arecibo on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Capitanes (19-16) 81-75. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Cangrejeros. Cangrejeros were trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 33-21 charge of Capitanes, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American center Cady Lalanne (208-92, college: Massachusetts) who scored 12 points and 9 rebounds. International forward Renaldo Balkman (203-84, college: S.Carolina) chipped in 6 points and 13 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was international point guard Javi Gonzalez (185-89, college: N.Carolina St.) who recorded 20 points and 7 assists and American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas, agency: Priority Sports) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Capitanes have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 19-16 record having just three points less than leader Santurce, which they share with Aguada. Cangrejeros at the other side still keep top place with 15 games lost. Capitanes is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Indios (#11) in Mayaguez in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cangrejeros will have a break next round.
