The game in Tijuana was also quite interesting. 6th ranked Vaqueros (13-15) played at the court of eighth ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (14-16). Tijuana Zonkeys defeated Vaqueros 109-94 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Vaqueros. American players dominated also this game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Trayvon Lathan (201-84, college: Chowan) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Swingman Dwayne Mitchell (196-82, college: La-Lafayette) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Lathan is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Tijuana Zonkeys players scored in double figures. Tijuana Zonkeys' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Steven Pledger (193-90, college: Oklahoma) came up with 32 points and 4 assists and forward Dominique Keller (205-88, college: Illinois) added 31 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Vaqueros in the defeat. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place. Newly promoted Vaqueros dropped to the seventh position with 15 games lost. They share it with Los Mochis. Tijuana Zonkeys will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Vaqueros will play against Frayles de Guasave (#4) and hope to secure a win.
