Fourteenth-ranked CAI Zaragoza (11-21) made lots of trouble for second ranked Valencia Basket (27-5) on Wednesday. The visitors from Valencia managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CAI Zaragoza won fourth quarter 18-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely CAI Zaragoza outrebounded Valencia Basket 44-31 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American-Croatian center Justin Hamilton (213-90, college: LSU, agency: Priority Sports) who scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Montenegrin Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 11 points and 7 rebounds. Five Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. Tongan-New Zealand forward Isaac Fotu (203-93, college: Hawaii) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds and Dutch center Henk Norel (214-87) added 14 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Valencia Basket maintains second position with 27-5 record behind leader FC Barcelona, which they share with Real Madrid. CAI Zaragoza at the other side keeps the fourteenth place with 21 games lost. Valencia Basket is looking forward to face Unicaja Malaga (#6) on the road in the next round. CAI Zaragoza will play against Sevilla (#11) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
