Scandone Avellino rallied past Pistoia in overtime and sealed their semifinal appearance. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 20-16 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 10-8. Scandone AV made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Maarten Leunen (206-85, college: Oregon) who scored 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Forward James Nunnally (201-90, college: UCSB) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists. Five Scandone AV players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico) who recorded 23 points and 8 rebounds and guard Preston Knowles (187-89, college: Louisville) added 23 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
