1/8 Finals Round 3: Argentino - Bahia Basket 95-80

Argentino outlasted Bahia Basket for 2-1 lead in the series. The game was mostly controlled by Argentino. Bahia Basket was better in fourth quarter 25-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Argentino dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Bahia Basket's 24 and made 24-of-24 charity shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. Argentino players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. 25 personal fouls committed by Bahia Basket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was an exceptional evening for point guard Franco Balbi (185-89) who led the winners and scored 7 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Naturalized Italian swingman Juan Cangelosi (197-81) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Argentino players scored in double figures. Martin Fernandez (197-97) came up with 24 points and American center Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) added 17 points and 8 rebounds respectively for Bahia Basket in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
