There was no surprise in Cheltenham where 6th ranked Sabres (4-5) were crushed by fourth ranked Mount Gambier Pioneers (6-3) 109-77 on Sunday. Mount Gambier Pioneers shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 51.9 percentage. The former international guard Tom Daly (182-91) fired 14 points and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Erik Burdon (190-85) chipped in 22 points. Five Mount Gambier Pioneers players scored in double figures. American forward Ari Stewart (200-90, college: USC) produced 26 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Aquill Baynard (203, college: Philander Smith) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Mount Gambier Pioneers moved-up to third place in League. Loser Sabres keep the sixth position with five games lost. Mount Gambier Pioneers will face Frankston Blues (#7) in Seaford in the next round.
