Quarter-Finals Round 3: Lourdes - Caen 81-86

Caen upset Lourdes and won the quarterfinal series. It looked good early as Lourdes-Tarbes took a 17-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Caen took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 5 points. They outrebounded Lourdes-Tarbes 37-26 including 31 on the defensive glass. Lourdes-Tarbes was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American power forward Marvin Phillips (203-83, college: Claflin) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Bill Clark (196-88, college: Duquesne, agency: HMS) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Caen players scored in double figures. Caen's coach Herve Coudray used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Sebastien Cape (184-93) answered with 20 points and 4 assists and forward Florian Lesca (198-89) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Lourdes-Tarbes.
