Regular Season Round 36: Navolato - Agua Prieta 98-99

Eleventh-ranked Garra Canera de Navolato (9-22) gave a tough game to eighth ranked Vaqueros (14-17) on Tuesday. The visitors from Agua Prieta managed to secure only one-point victory 99-98. However their fans expected easier game. Vaqueros shot 65.5 percent from the field. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 58.3 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Sammy Yeager (193-89, college: CS Fullerton) who scored 37 points (!!!) (on 13-of-16 shooting from the field). Guard Steven Pledger (193-90, college: Oklahoma) chipped in 26 points. Four Vaqueros players scored in double figures. Vaqueros' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Tamir Jackson (190-90, college: Rice) who recorded 23 points and 7 assists and forward Ronald Selleaze (197-76, college: CSU Bakersfield) added 27 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Vaqueros moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Los Mochis. Loser Garra Canera de Navolato stay at the bottom position with 22 games lost. Vaqueros will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Garra Canera de Navolato will play again against Vaqueros (#7) and hope to secure a win.
