VEF Riga snatched a narrow road win over Ventspils and sealed their LBL Finals birth. Ventspils were trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 17-14 charge of VEF Riga, which allowed them to win the game. They made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. VEF Riga had a 16-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Mexican guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) for the winners and American forward Josh Harrellson (208-89, college: Kentucky) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four VEF Riga players scored in double figures. American-Bulgarian point guard Willie Deane (188-80, college: Purdue, agency: Higher Vision Sports) responded with 20 points and 4 assists and the former international center Andrejs Grazulis (202-93) scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
