Quarter-Finals Round 1: Maccabi T-A - Bnei Hertzeliyya 76-75

Maccabi Tel-Aviv outlasted Bnei Hertzeliyya for the opening victory in the playoffs. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Bnei Hasharon won third quarter 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi T-A made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Maccabi T-A outrebounded Bnei Hasharon 46-33 including a 36-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized American swingman Sylven Landesberg (198-90, college: Virginia) stepped up and scored 21 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and Itay Segev (204-95) chipped in 11 points and 14 rebounds. Maccabi T-A's coach Zan Tabak used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side American forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St.) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import guard Drew Crawford (196-90, college: Northwestern) scored 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures.
