Quarter-Finals Round 1: Maccabi Haifa - Maccabi Rishon 69-71

Maccabi Rishon nipped Maccabi Haifa on the road in the opener. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 22-16. But Maccabi Haifa won second period 20-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Rishon looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Darryl Monroe (201-86, college: George Mason) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona) chipped in 23 points. At the losing side swingman William Graves (198-88, college: N.Carolina) responded with 20 points and point guard John DiBartolomeo (183-91, college: Rochester, agency: Duran International) scored 9 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
