Arecibo fired past Santurce in the semifinal series opener. The game without a history. Capitanes led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Capitanes brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American forward Coty Clarke (201-92, college: Arkansas) nailed 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winning side and the former international guard Guillermo Diaz (188-85, college: Miami, FL) accounted for 17 points and 5 rebounds. Four Capitanes players scored in double figures. Belizean-American power forward Leon Williams (203-86, college: Ohio) came up with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds and the former international Javier Mojica (190-84, college: Cent.Conn.St., agency: Paris Global Sports) added 14 points respectively for Cangrejeros in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
