Arecibo stepped closer to the Finals after they defeated Santurce for the third straight time. Cangrejeros were ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 23-12 charge of Capitanes, which allowed them to win the game. They made 23-of-29 charity shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Cangrejeros were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for the former international swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) who led the winners and scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Coty Clarke (201-92, college: Arkansas) accounted for 22 points for the winning side. Five Capitanes players scored in double figures. American forward Damion James (201-87, college: Texas, agency: Priority Sports) came up with 27 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Kevin Hamilton (193-84, college: Holy Cross) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Cangrejeros in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
