Campo Mourao victoriously opened Liga Ouro Finals. They held off Vasco Da Gama in the opener. Vasco Da G. was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Campo Mourao made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Point guard Alexey Borges (180-95) stepped up and scored 25 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Vinicius Telo (203-85, college: Cameron) chipped in 21 points. At the losing side Gaucho Zilmer (197-86) responded with 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international power forward William Drudi (206-81) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
