Maccabi Rishon upset Maccabi Haifa on the road and stayed in the title race. The guests were ahead by 9 points but lost the second period ending it with a 4-point deficit before their 23-9 run, which allowed them to win the game. Maccabi Rishon dominated down low during the game scoring 46 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Haifa's 22. Maccabi Haifa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Darryl Monroe (201-86, college: George Mason) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 13 rebounds (on 11-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side and his fellow American import point guard Mark Lyons (185-89, college: Arizona) accounted for 12 points. Venezuelan point guard Gregory Vargas (180-86, agency: Pro Sports) came up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and American swingman William Graves (198-88, college: N.Carolina) added 18 points (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) respectively for Maccabi Haifa in the defeat.
