Hermosillo held off Los Mochis for the opening victory in the series. Pioneros Los Mochis were ahead by 1 point after three quarters before a 24-18 charge of Rayos de Hermosillo, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. Swingman Michael Craig (196-91, college: S.Mississippi) stepped up and scored 34 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners and forward Emmanuel Little (196-85, college: N.Dakota) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Little is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. At the losing side forward Travis Franklin (200-88, college: Colorado St.) responded with 27 points and Leon Gibson (206-91, college: Houston) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds. Five Pioneros Los Mochis players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
