Date: June 12, 2016
Very expected game in Bundaberg where 12th ranked Force (1-5) was crushed by seventh ranked Bears (5-2) 91-67. It looked good early as Force took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Bears had a 23-12 second period charge getting the lead and Force was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-91. They outrebounded Force 46-33 including 17 on the offensive glass. Bears players were unselfish on offense dishing 32 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Force's players. Worth to mention a great performance of Christina Boag who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 20 rebounds. Kellie Page contributed with 21 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Bears players scored in double figures. Bears' coach Darryn Roche felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. French forward Soana Lucet (185-87, college: Arizona, agency: LBM Management) answered with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and Jamaican-American power forward Shenneika Smith (185-89, college: St.John's) added 10 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Force. The victory was the third consecutive win for Bears. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Townsville F. and Gold Coast R. Force at the other side keeps the twelfth position with five games lost. Bears' next round opponent will be higher ranked Logan Thunder (#3) in Loganholme and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Force will play against SC Rip (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
