Finals Game 5: Mazatlan - Hermosillo 102-82

Mazatlan defeated Hermosillo to gain 3-2 lead in the championship series. Rayos de Hermosillo trailed 55-53 at halftime, rallying from a 33-20 deficit at the end of first quarter to trim the gap. Canadian forward Marvell Waithe (205-87, college: Arkansas) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 4 assists. American guard Jeff Ledbetter (190-88, college: Idaho) contributed with 28 points for the winners. American forward Alfonzo McKinnie (203, college: Green Bay) answered with 20 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import swingman Michael Craig (196-91, college: S.Mississippi) added 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Rayos de Hermosillo. Four Rayos de Hermosillo players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
