Very important is a road loss of second ranked Leones SD (4-2) against sixth ranked Titanes Licey (2-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Leones SD was defeated by Titanes Licey in a tough game in San Cristobal 90-98. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Leones SD. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Leones SD won fourth quarter 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Titanes Licey dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Leones SD's 38. It was a good game for naturalized Spanish power forward Edward Santana (203-80) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 6 rebounds. American center Maurice Sutton (211-89, college: Villanova) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. Five Titanes Licey players scored in double figures. Guard Elpidio Fortuna (188-85) replied with 22 points and American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Leones SD. Leones SD's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Titanes Licey moved-up to fifth place. Leones SD at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Titanes Licey will play against bottom-ranked Soles SD (#8) in Santo Domingo in the next round. Leones SD will play at home against Huracanes PP (#6) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
