An interesting game was also surprising home defeat of 5th ranked Titanes Licey in a game in San Cristobal versus Soles SD (#8) 92-83. Titanes Licey was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 31-20 charge of Soles SD, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Titanes Licey's 48. It was an exceptional evening for Puerto Rican swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Juan Miguel Suero (196-93) accounted for 19 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Five Soles SD players scored in double figures. Naturalized Spanish power forward Edward Santana (203-80) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and American center Maurice Sutton (211-89, college: Villanova) added 16 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Titanes Licey in the defeat. Soles SD (2-4) moved-up to seventh place. Loser Titanes Licey dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Soles SD will meet bottom-ranked Indios SFM (#8) in the next round. Titanes Licey will play against the league's leader Metros STGO having rather not much hope for a victory.
