Regular Season Round 8: Huracanes PP - Titanes Licey 79-83

There was a minor upset in Puerto Plata where 5th ranked Huracanes PP (3-5) was defeated by seventh ranked Titanes Licey (3-4) 83-79 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-79. Strangely Huracanes PP outrebounded Titanes Licey 43-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Austin Freeman (194-89, college: Georgetown) who scored 20 points. Naturalized Spanish power forward Edward Santana (203-80) chipped in 11 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Naturalized American forward Emmy Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists and naturalized Spanish power forward Alexis Montas (202-79) added 14 points and 15 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Titanes Licey and five Huracanes PP players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Titanes Licey moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Soles SD. Loser Huracanes PP dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Titanes Licey will meet at home bottom-ranked Indios SFM (#8) in the next round. Huracanes PP will play against Caneros LR and hope to secure a win.
