Regular Season Round 8: Caneros LR - Indios SFM 76-75

The most exciting game of round 8 in the LNB took place in La Romana. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 8th ranked Indios SFM (1-7) to fourth ranked Caneros LR (4-3) 76-75 on Saturday evening. The hosts trailed by 5 points after three quarters before their 23-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Caneros LR forced 20 Indios SFM turnovers. Strangely Indios SFM outrebounded Caneros LR 44-26 including 19 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Ryan Scott (191-86, college: Johnson C. Smith, agency: Aspire Sports) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and the other American import center Wendell Lewis (208-89, college: Alabama St.) who added 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Caneros LR's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman Omar Reed (200-87, college: Bluefield, agency: Haylett Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists and naturalized Spanish center Jhonatan Araujo (208-96) scored 8 points and 12 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Caneros LR moved-up to second place, which they share with Leones SD and Reales LV. Indios SFM lost third consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with seven games lost. Caneros LR is looking forward to face Huracanes PP (#7) in Puerto Plata in the next round where they are favorite. Indios SFM will play on the road against Titanes Licey in San Cristobal and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
