There was a minor upset in San Cristobal where 4th placed Titanes Licey (7-7) was defeated by sixth ranked Caneros LR (7-8) 92-75 on Monday. The guests trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 48-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Caneros LR dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Titanes Licey's 32. They outrebounded Titanes Licey 47-30 including 17 on the offensive glass. It was a great evening for American guard Ryan Scott (191-86, college: Johnson C. Smith, agency: Aspire Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Kelvin Pena (193-80, college: Southeastern CC) helped adding 15 points. Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American center Maurice Sutton (211-89, college: Villanova) with 20 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Spanish power forward Edward Santana (203-80) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Caneros LR maintains sixth place with 7-8 record. Titanes Licey lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth position with seven games lost. They share it with Huracanes PP. Caneros LR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Titanes Licey will play against Soles SD (#3) in Santo Domingo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
