Regular Season Round 16: Soles SD - Leones SD 96-93

The most exciting game of round 16 in the LNB took place in Santo Domingo. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of much higher ranked Leones SD (9-7) to fourth ranked Soles SD (9-7) 96-93 in the game for the second place. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 30-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Soles SD dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Leones SD's 58. They outrebounded Leones SD 43-27 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Puerto Rican swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 42 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds (on 18-of-22 shooting from the field). American center Jordan Richard (206-89, college: CS Los Angeles) contributed with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Guard Elpidio Fortuna (188-85) replied with 31 points and Puerto Rican point guard Alex Abreu (180-91, college: W.Georgia) added 13 points and 8 assists in the effort for Leones SD. Four Soles SD and five Leones SD players scored in double figures. Soles SD moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Leones SD. Leones SD lost third consecutive game. Soles SD is looking forward to face Caneros LR (#6) in La Romana in the next round. Leones SD will have a break next round.
