Regular Season Round 17: Titanes Licey - Caneros LR 81-86

The game between Top Four teams took place in San Cristobal. 4th placed host Titanes Licey (8-8) lost to fourth ranked Caneros LR (9-8) 86-81. It looked good early as Titanes Licey took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Caneros LR had a 17-8 second period charge getting the lead and Titanes Licey was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-86. American guard Ryan Scott (191-86, college: Johnson C. Smith, agency: Aspire Sports) nailed 15 points and 5 assists for the winning side and Elias Soliman accounted for 13 points and 4 assists. Scott is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Caneros LR players scored in double figures. Naturalized Spanish power forward Edward Santana (203-80) came up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and international swingman James Maye (201-81, college: NC-Greensboro) added 20 points respectively for Titanes Licey in the defeat. Titanes Licey's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Caneros LR have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Soles SD. Titanes Licey at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. Caneros LR will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Titanes Licey will play at home against Soles SD (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
