Regular Season Round 18: Huracanes PP - Metros STGO 84-86

Sixth-ranked Huracanes PP (7-9) made lots of trouble for first ranked Metros STGO (17-2) in Puerto Plata on Sunday. The visitors from Santiago managed to secure only two-point victory 86-84. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 20-17. But Huracanes PP won second period 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was American Robert Glenn (203-89, college: IUPUI) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. Center Eloy Vargas (211-88, college: Kentucky) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was naturalized American forward Emmy Andujar (198-93, college: Manhattan) who recorded 15 points and 8 rebounds and American guard John Taylor (185-89, college: Fresno Pacific) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Metros STGO and four Huracanes PP players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Metros STGO have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 17-2 record. Huracanes PP at the other side keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Metros STGO will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Huracanes PP will play again on the road against the league's leader Metros STGO (#1) in Santiago and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
