Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Santo Domingo: Leones SD (#2) and Soles SD (#3). Leones SD (12-8) won against visiting Soles SD (11-9) 82-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Soles SD. The hosts were ahead by 5 points but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 23-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Soles SD outrebounded Leones SD 35-23 including 23 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) who scored that evening 20 points and 7 rebounds and guard Elpidio Fortuna (188-85) supported him with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Leones SD's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds by American center Jordan Richard (206-89, college: CS Los Angeles) did not help to save the game for Soles SD. Power forward Manuel Guzman (204-82, college: Bemidji St.) added 18 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Four Leones SD and five Soles SD players scored in double figures. Leones SD maintains second position with 12-8 record having six points less than leader Metros STGO. Soles SD at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost.
