Team USA earned the fifth straight win in Rio de Janeiro. They toppled France to earn the top position in Group A. Klay Thompson nailed 30 points for the winners. Team USA exploded with 55 points in the first half to take a 9-point halftime lead. They extended the gap at 12-point mark heading into the fourth term. France poured in 28 points in the final period to narrow the deficit at the end. Kevin Durant tallied 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Thomas Heurtel and Nando De Colo responded with 18 points each as France finished third in the pool.
